A2D Project conducts SDRH survey in Iligan City

Last July 22-29, the A2D Project team went to Iligan City in Northern Mindanao to conduct a socio-demographic and reproductive health (SDRH) survey of Sendong survivors in transitory sites.

Ten local enumerators were trained by the A2D Project team led by Executive Director Kaira Zoe Alburo at the Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) last July 23 in cooperation with the Department of Sociology. Modules included an overview on the survey, review of the survey questionnaire, and interviewing techniques. Practice interviews were conducted at the end of the training.

The survey ran from July 24 to 28 and covered 4 transitory sites located in Tambo, Luinab, and Upper Hinaplanon. Miss Alburo, along with A2D colleagues Aloysius Canete and Kei Valmoria-Bughaw, acted as field supervisors. Five hundred questionnaires were completed through random stratified sampling.

Data from the survey is currently being processed and readied for interpretation and analysis by Miss Alburo. She will submit a report on the survey to the International Association for the Study of Sexuality, Culture, and Society (IASSCS).
